The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project – Summary

Dalton Beauregard has a plan, and it involves acing all his exams, making the Dean’s List every year he’s at Lassiter College, and going to med school and becoming a doctor.

Marty O’Brien has a plan too. His is to improve his life by emulating those around him. He’s going to need a study plan, a tutor, and… a boyfriend?

Dalton can’t believe he’s even considering this. It’s utterly ridiculous. Marty is an idiot, and there is no way he’s going to help him learn how to be gay.

Or is there?

The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project – My Review

The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project is the perfect next installment in the Alpha Tau series. This book features Marty, the lovable fool from the first book, and Dalton, the openly gay pre-med major that Archer thinks about setting Eli up with in the first book of the series.

This book is hilarious, fun, and deeper than meets the eye.

This is absolutely an opposites attract type of story. Dalton and Marty are opposites in so many ways.

Dalton is doing amazing academically. Marty is struggling to pass classes.

Dalton is uptight and serious. Marty is the silliest goose in the world.

Dalton is gay. Marty is straight. Or, is he?

Dalton quickly finds that Marty is both a ton of fun and much deeper than most people give him credit.

"Marty was like junk food. You knew you should avoid it, but that sugar rush felt so damn good."

At the start of the story we learn that Dalton is coming out of a bad break up with his long-distance boyfriend.

Marty, while asking for Dalton’s help academically and sexually, teaches Dalton that he doesn’t have to be so mature and responsible with his feelings. Sometimes it is okay to be petty and mad when you’ve been screwed over.

This really endears Marty to Dalton. Dalton finds himself unable to really tell Marty no.

Don’t get me wrong! Marty is a fool!

He isn’t always the brightest. He fist bumps after sex and his favorite pet name for Dalton is Dalton donut.

These two might not seem like a great fit from the outside looking in, but what they have is really special.

"Marty's a really great guy, Mackenzie. He's not just a... a dude bro." Which was right when I hear a yell of delight from the nearest pen of puppies. "Dude!" Marty yelled. "Bro!"

Okay, so he is a dude bro. But Dalton finds, there isn’t anything really wrong with that.

I loved the humor in this book. I laughed out loud multiple times. There were also some more serious topics!

Pre-med Dalton can’t help but notice that Marty displays many signs of being neurodiverse.

"So," I said, attempting to steer the conversation back on track, "you never got tested?" He stared blankly. "For what?" "Neurodivergence." "Nope. ADHD, either. My folks said it ws just how the O'Briend boys are." "Maybe," I said slowly, "it runs in the family?"

Long story short, this book is cute, hilarious, fratty, and romantic.

Check it out for a great opposites attracted college romance.
