One of my goals for 2024 is to write down every single book I read. You would think as a book blogger I would already be doing that…
Nevertheless, as I was journaling my reading for the month, I realized that it might be interesting for you to see all of the books I read instead of just the few that get reviewed each month.
Keep reading to see all of the books I read and all of the books I DNF’d in January 2024.
Spoiler alert: I DNF a lot more books than I realized.

I moved. Like, states away.
So, I just read a bunch of fanfiction from AO3.
When I am incredibly busy and stressed out, I tend to turn to fanfiction. It is low commitment and a comfort to me.
I finally read Wrath by Ellis James!
I swear this book has been sitting on my TBR list for forever, but I just could never commit. For whatever reason, on January 7th, I decided to jump in.
Boy was it a wild ride. This book is hella long and super dark, so it took me a while to slog through.
That being said, I am glad that I finally got around to this one.
The Amazing Alpha Tau Self-Improvement Project was a super cute and light read. Perfect for a reset after Wrath.
Because the book just released on January 10, I wrote a book review to help people find this quick and quirky read.
My first DNF of 2024!
I made it to 44% of The Alpha Wolf Prince’s Arranged Marriage before I called it quits.
I just couldn’t get myself to care about these two characters, and I found myself skimming. One can only skim for so long before realizing that it is time to move on.
Around this time, I was preparing my February 2024 list of M/M romance books dropping and I saw that CE Ricci was releasing the sequel to the book Don’t You Dare.
The problem is that I never read, Don’t You Dare. So I decided I had to read this one to be ready for Never Will I Ever’s release.
This was a solid three star book for me, but I enjoyed enough about it the I am still very excited for CE Ricci’s next drop.
Rent: Paid in Full released January 18th, so the very second that I finished Don’t You Dare, I jumped into this book.
It is no secret that I’m a huge Jesse H Reign fan, but how can I not be when she keeps dropping books like these?!
You can read all about why you should check out this book in my review here.
So, I read this book in a single day.
Why? Because it was written by Marina Vivancos, and I don’t sleep a lot.
Also, the book was great! It combines three of my favorite things: hockey, ABO romance, and Marina Vivancos.
This is, by far, the lightest book I’ve read by this author. If you have been wanting to try Marina Vivancos’ stuff, but have been intimidated by how dark the books are, this is the perfect option for you!
After slamming through Broken Ice, I was a little stumped on what to read.
Luckily, after I finished the book Rent: Paid in Full, I had signed up for Jesse H Reign’s newsletter. This left a lot of her freebies in my inbox.
I decided to read Unrequited. This a book only available through signing up for her newsletter. I have the, sort of, sequel to the book linked here.
This book is tough to rate. At one point I thought maybe five stars, and at another I thought two. Either way, it’s a wild ride that follows two men over the course of their tumultuous relationship.
This was a tough day for me. After Unrequited, I was left a little off-kilter. I decided to try the new book from Eden Finley and Saxon James, The Bastard and the Heir.
I’m going to be super honest, I knew that this book might not be my thing. While I love a good brother-lover book, this book was still insanely boring to me.
I just don’t enjoy the billionaire trope.
I was yawning reading about these two running a company together.
I DNF’d this book at 14%. But, comment below and let me know if I just need to push through a little longer to enjoy this book!
Then, after I DNF’d The Bastard and the Heir, I decided to try another book that I had been looking forward to, Something Unforgettable.
But, that turned out to be a flop for me as well. I just couldn’t read this book.
I know it sounds harsh, but Finn is not a character that I am interested in spending an entire book with.
At 3% I was already checking how many pages were left in the book. I knew it wasn’t going to work out and I cut my loses.
I think it is clear at this point in the month I was having a hard time finding a book to read. I just stumbled across The Naiad’s Gift and thought I would give it a go.
Then, I DNF’d this book too.
I thought this was a fine book. It was okay. Kind of interesting at first. And then by 55% I realized there was absolutely no chemistry between the two men and I was bored to tears.
I realized that there was only one way that I could pull myself out of the DNF slump.
A hockey book.
So, I dug until I found a hockey book that I somehow haven’t read before. Sometimes it feels like I forget that books exist outside of the Kindle Unlimited sphere.
Caught Off Guard was just the book I needed! It was great! I loved Mattie so much. I understood Casey. The two were perfect together.
This was just the book I needed. I devoured it in a single day.
I’m a simple creature. I enjoyed the hockey book, so I found another hockey book.
This was a good!
Like Real People Do reads like fanfiction. It’s not plausible, it’s absolute best scenario at all times, and it’s super sweet.
But that didn’t stop me from enjoying myself.
This book is super fade to black, which is not my usual thing, but I still enjoyed myself.
I decided to end this month rereading Never Feed the Crows.
This book is such an interesting read. There is super creative world building, and you get the sense that this is just the start of a new series from Jennifer Cody.
I will probably check it out!
If you were keeping track that is nine books fully read this month, and four DNF’s. I had a little trouble finding exactly what I wanted to read, but I still greatly enjoyed myself.
You can find my February reading journal here!
I read M/M romance books exclusively, and I help other readers find their next great M/M romance read.
