I am still doing it.
Three months into the year 2024 and I am still writing down every single thing that I read.
And sharing it with people. Yikes!
Don’t judge me too harshly. This wasn’t a great month for me personally, and I think you’ll find that I read some (hmmm… let’s call it) interesting stuff when I am not feeling great.
Continue reading below. If you dare.

Talk about starting off strong.
On the first day of March I finished the book Prince of Agony by Tavia Lark.
The book was amazing and the perfect ending to the Perilous Courts series. Super highly recommend this one!
Things only go downhill from here…
Promises of Forever hurt to read.
It is a good book, and Nicky James is a great author. But that didn’t stop me from struggling to finish the book.
There was just too much regret and pain.
I felt nothing but relief when I turned the final page of this book.
I jumped straight into Pretty Boy by new-to-me author Brianna Flores with the goal of lightening things up after Promises of Forever.
The relationship dynamic between Liam and Bash will not be everyone’s cup of tea. Some aspects really worked for me and some really didn’t.
I will absolutely be continuing to read the rest of The Boys of Apartment 13 series.
Give this one a read to see if it’s your thing!
I DNF’d On Guard at 37%.
I didn’t find a single character likable, and the believability of the story was nonexistent.
After cringing 483 times, I threw in the towel.
When trying to decide what to read next, I realized that Jaclyn Osborn’s latest book was going to be dropping soon, but I hadn’t read the books before it in the Ivy Grove series. So, I decided to jump into The Ghost of Ellwood.
It was a solid read. I am definitely not going to go out of my way to read M/M horror in the future, but I enjoyed my time with the book.
Some of the logistics of being in love with a ghost still bug me, but, hey, Ben seems happy.
Well, book one wasn’t bad, why not keep reading book two?
I jumped straight into The Curse of Redwood.
I am not going to lie, this book is much scarier than The Ghost of Ellwood, and I found myself a little nervous to continue reading it. I took a break to read other books at 15%
Maybe I’ll be back…
Guys Protection by T. Baggins is such a wild book.
I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about it.
The ending of this book shocked me so much that I was completely numb and confused.
The coda of a book has never thrown me for more of a loop.
All of this to say, I am glad that I read the book. I just probably won’t be rereading it anytime soon.
After slamming through Protection, I decided to keep going with edgy, quick reads and jumped into Fire and Ash by Sara Cate.
This book is the sequel to an M/F book that I never read, but the blurb was interesting enough for me to give it a go.
The accidental student/professor relationship was exciting, and I loved the intrigue of Pax’s scars.
However, I can’t lie, it has only been a little over two weeks since I’ve read the book and I remember almost nothing about it…
So, take that as you will.
I then tried to continue reading The Curse of Redwood.
Only to pause at a measly 23%.
I think it’s time to call it a DNF as I still haven’t picked up where I left off in this book.
After seriously struggling to come up with something to read, I finally landed on Colin by Grae Bryan. Which was, admittedly, a bit of an odd pick for me.
Colin is the sixth book in the Vampire’s Mate series. I had DNF’d Roman back in 2022 when it first came out and then never tried the rest of the series. Until I randomly jumped into this book.
Why did I do it? Because of the twins. M/M/M fated mates? How can I say no?
Was it a little tricky to read the sixth book in a series with little to no context? Sure. Did I have fun? Tons!
The Player by Felice Stevens was a super enjoyable read. I kept being reminded of You & Me by Tal Bauer which is one of my absolute favorite books.
Are they the same quality? Not even close. But if you are ever searching for a book that has similar vibes, this would be it.
While this book was little cheesy, I couldn’t help but become invested. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have DNF’d a lot of Cora Rose books lately. Like, almost all of her recently released books.
Except You was such a breath of fresh air.
I adored Magnus in his own book, Sem, but hated what his family did to him. I can’t help but love this redemption arc that Cora Rose is writing for his brothers.
Max and Beau are the sweetest thing in the world. I actually enjoyed Cora Rose’s penchant for overly cutesy nicknames here with Max calling Beau ‘Bow-tie’.
That’s so freaking cute.
Did I start to skim by the end of the book? Yes. Yes I did. But, Except You is still definitely worth a read!
I had a tough couple of days and decided to self-medicate with some good old fashion fan fiction. It does the soul good.
Your Mileage May Vary will not be everyone’s cup of tea.
A character in the book has a fetish that the average person would find gross.
But the book isn’t about that! It’s about love and communication and learning how to navigate a changing relationship.
It is a beautiful friends-to-lovers story.
Your Milage May Vary gave me Crybaby by Marina Vivancos vibes in all the best ways.
I DNF so many books without a second thought and I made it through the entirety of Feral Woods by M.C. Roth. That information alone should give you a decent picture of my headspace at this point in the month of March.
This book is depraved. But, honestly, I can’t say I hated reading it.
Did it all make sense? Not even close. Was there a plot? Pretty hard to tell. Was it kind of hot? Yeah.
I will not be reading another M.C. Roth book anytime soon, but this book served its purpose.
Where is there to go after Feral Woods? How does one transition to another book from this? To fan fiction I turn once again.
If you were keeping track that is eleven books fully read this month, and two DNF’s. You will note that the sadder I am, the more depraved my reading. Here’s hoping that April is sunshine and rainbows!
Thanks for sticking with me.

I read M/M romance books exclusively, and I help other readers find their next great M/M romance read.
