These are my most anticipated M/M romance books for September 2023. There are quite a few books being released this month, but this list contains the books that really stand out to me as potentially great reads.
A few of these books are by authors I know and love while others just have an exciting premise. September looks to be a great month with some really fun reads. Let’s jump in!

If you listen to The Vers, a queer podcast I host with my three best friends, you know me as The Charmer. I’m always happy, flirting, and trying to win everyone over. I think most people would be surprised to learn I have a lot more going on beneath the surface.
But ever since all my friends have fallen in love, it’s getting more difficult not to feel left out…
Cue my fascination with Spencer, my neighbor who hates me. There’s something addicting about getting under his skin, and I blame the combination of my confusing emotions and too many drinks for spilling my guts to him about all my insecurities…and about how much I love cuddling.
Turns out, Spencer doesn’t hate me, and my word vomit is the catalyst that makes us decide to be cuddle buddies. When I need affection, I go to him, and he just…holds me. Along the way we become friends, and when I fall for him, it’s surprising that he feels the same. Spencer’s easy to talk to, fun to be around, and did I mention he’s hot? I love how confident he is in his full figure, and there’s nothing like being in his beefy arms.
Spencer has me wanting more for the first time in my life, and he’s determined to help with my disordered eating, but if I want a healthy future with him, I need to work toward being healthy for myself too.
Anytime I see Riley Hart is releasing a new book I get excited to try it. She can really knock it out of the park. The Vers Podcast series is one that I have been meaning to start since The Loner was dropped in January of this year.
The premise of The Charmer has finally convinced me I need to jump in. M/M romance rarely covers disordered eating, but I trust Riley Hart to tackle this tough topic.
Release Date: September 6th
Today’s experiment: Combine one socially awkward science teacher with two beefy, former students. Mix well.
I love watching chemicals bond, but I avoid the practice myself.
When I’m not teaching, I’m hanging out with my cat and putting together puzzles. I shy away from romantic entanglements because I know firsthand the collateral damage they cause.
Until I bump into Anton and Sebastian: best friends, business partners. and former wrestling superstars at South Rock High who could barely pass my class. Catching up turns into drinking, which turns into dancing, which turns into them practicing wrestling moves on me, sans clothing.
It’s clear that the men have a history—and some unresolved feelings between them—but being the piece of meat in their jock sandwich unleashes a wild, confident side in me I can’t ignore.
The other thing I can’t ignore: we’re falling for each other.
With three hearts on the line, I can’t risk destroying their close friendship and burgeoning business, not to mention reliving my own past pain. But is the chemical attraction between us too strong to ignore?
I have to be honest, this book might not be for everyone, but it feels a little like Advanced Chemistry was written just for me. It has MMM, age-gap, features a Chemistry teacher, and is written by A.J. Truman. It literally checks all of my boxes.
I feel a little like I won the lottery with this one. I have loved the entire South Rock High series. This is a cheesy and fun series and I look forward to devouring this latest book.
The hometown hockey hero and his best friend’s brother…
Vin
Hockey has been my life since I was a kid. No joke. I learned to skate before I learned how to ride a bike. I’ve been on a wild ride playing at the highest level for some of the biggest and best teams in the league.
But now…it’s over and I’m not sure what to do with myself.
My best bet is to go home and consider my options. My burger joint business venture is doing pretty well. I could expand my franchise…maybe? I’ll tell you what I’m not gonna do. I’m not coaching at my buddy’s hockey camp. No chance. I don’t know how to deal with kids and besides, the other coach, who happens to be my best friend’s brother, hates me. For no reason.
Okay…maybe he has a reason.
Nolan
I really truly dislike Vinnie K. I always have and I always will.
Fine. I liked him a little in high school. But then he got famous, left town, and never looked back. Maybe a small part of me is jealous. Once upon a time, I left too. But when my dad got sick, I returned to Elmwood to run the family diner I’ve since made into a New England institution.
And now, Vin is going to ruin everything. I don’t want to compete for business or worry about my brother’s rink. And I don’t want to share the ice with him.
I can’t believe I’m doing this again.
Hockey M/M romance books have me in a chokehold lately. I seriously cannot get enough of them. The fact that one by Lane Hayes drops so soon is so exciting.
Throw in a little best friend’s brother and enemies to lovers and I am sold. I really think You, Again is going to be a winner.
I didn’t expect the summoning spell I found on Tik Tok to work.
I’m Saint. I’m your average, run-of-the-mill, overstressed college sophomore. My Daddy prospects are nil, and that’s assuming I even have time for a partner.
Ha. An English major with free time. That’s a good one.
When I use a spell I found in a viral Tik Tok video to help me with an assignment, the last thing I expect is for a six-foot-ten blue-skinned protector demon to show up in the campus library.
My demon’s name is Onyx, and he’s an Etruscan demon who’s last master locked him in a tomb for three thousand years. Onyx tells me that he’s here to do my bidding and I think that sounds great, to be honest. He quickly finishes my classwork and even makes a new game I’ve wanted appear out of nowhere.
Onyx’s assistance comes with a price. As it turns out, he was shut up in the cave because his last master refused to pay up.
I ask Onyx what his price is, and he tells me he demands… cuddles. And kisses. And lots and lots of… other things.
Looks like I conjured up more than I bargained for…
I refuse to be embarrassed about how I am excited for My Daddy Demon. I already mentioned in my Halloween M/M romance book list that I can’t wait for this read.
The phrase ‘paranormal M/M Daddy romance’ was read and I don’t need to ask any further questions. This book does come from the Possessive Love series that is dropping new books every few days in September and October.
Park Chen has spent most of his life as a killer—a deadly, deep cover operative known as the Bone Collector. Now, he’s been benched. Reassigned as an instructor at Project Watchtower, he’s tasked with training a school of psychopathic assassins while trying to keep a promise to his friends.
Gift Ayutthaya isn’t treated like a gift at all. If anything, his parents treat him as a burden, though a spoiled one. After an attempt on his life, they pass that burden onto someone else. Park. The man Gift’s been fantasizing about for years. A man who sees him as an adorable but incompetent distraction.
It’s no secret that Gift doesn’t belong at the Watch, but Park’s made a vow to keep him safe. Gift has made a vow, too. He’s going to use every weapon in his arsenal to find a way to seduce Park and make him love him, once and for all. Or die trying.
Loving Gift was never the issue—Park’s already there. But assignments at the Watch aren’t optional. To stay, Gift has to prove himself, something Park just can’t allow. Can Gift get Park to see that, when it comes to murder, Gift is aptly named? Or will he be relegated to the sidelines in both school and in love?
The Bone Collector might just be the book I am most excited about for this month. This book absolutely screams Onley James, and I could not be happier with the premise.
I was overjoyed to see that this is just book one of The Watch, a brand new series. I cannot wait to jump into this one!
No one leaves the Foxtail Bed and Breakfast without a mate. No one can make reservations, though. They have to be invited by Franklin, the owner, who whose kindness is overshadowed by sadness. .
Saint
I grew up in a strict community, that’s what they called it. Now that I was older and free from their leashes, I knew the right word was cult. Still, it’s hard to get the teachings out of my head and even worse, not to live by their purity standards and ridiculous gender roles. My fathers’ words echo in my head, even as I sleep. I tried to date a few times, mostly online. No one wanted anything to do with my cleanliness quirks or my neatness needs. I was too innocent for them. Too sweet. I had learned some things about life, but still was naive when it came to the world and how things worked, especially with relationships.
All I wanted was an alpha to accept me for me and keep his word. Someone with patience. Was that too much to ask? I’m fed up with my job and needing a vacation when a letter arrives in my mailbox, complete with a wax seal. Somehow I’d won a week’s vacation, all expenses included, at the Foxtail Bed and Breakfast. I’d never heard of the place, but I didn’t care. I needed the time away.
Memphis
I want an omega, but I’m not looking for one ever again. The one I had cheated on me, verbally abused me and left me in a financial pit. My bear longed for an omega to take care of, to love and to accept my protection but no way I was putting myself out there by dating again. A family is what I craved. Someone to partner with. Another shifter to run with and have a future with.
So, I pour myself into my work as a lawyer, working and billing for at least eighty hours a week. But when a free week’s vacation letter comes in the mail, I’m curious and skeptical all at once. The place checks out but nothing is free. When I get there, only one other person is staying at the inn. He’s drop-dead gorgeous but I know if I get involved, I’m only signing up for heartbreak.
This book is not for everyone! I know that shifter ABO mpreg is definitely not to everyone’s taste, and that is okay!
If you are up for ignoring all of the laws of nature and reality and having a great time, then join me in reading Hesitant Alpha by Lorelei M. Hart in September. This is the first book in the new series Omegas Inn Love.
At first glance Archer Calloway is your typical frat boy—preppy, pre-law, privileged. But one thing he’s not is a jerk. So when a shy guy at a wedding gives Archer his number, Archer is impressed by his courage in putting himself out there.
What starts as a courtesy call to the guy turns into friendship. Eli is awesome, and Archer can’t understand why he’s single. With the help of his fraternity brothers at Alpha Tau, Archer comes up with the perfect project. Get Eli Fuller the perfect boyfriend or die trying.
It’s a flawless plan and nothing could possibly go wrong.
The Amazing Alpha Tau Boyfriend Project is a lighthearted contemporary m/m romance containing banter, bad dates, and an oblivious frat boy who is about to discover something new about himself. Or something.
Uh oh.
Yes. I think I will. Guys, I am so excited for this book! I am already a pretty big fan of Lisa Henry and Sarah Honey from their writing in various other projects, but I think this will be my new favorite book by this writing duo.
There is something I absolutely love about a clueless frat bro figuring out he is bi.
A merry and bright hockey romance about finding your place, finding your people and finding your way back to the one you love the most.
For Landon Stackhouse, being called up from the Calgary farm team is exciting and terrifying, even if, as the backup goalie, he rarely leaves the bench. A quiet loner by nature, Landon knows he gives off strong “don’t talk to me” vibes. The only player who doesn’t seem to notice is Calgary’s superstar young winger, Casey Hicks.
Casey treats Landon like an old friend, even though they’ve only interacted briefly in the past. He’s endlessly charming and completely laid-back in a way that Landon absolutely can’t relate to. They couldn’t have less in common, but Landon needs a place to live that’s not a hotel room and Casey has just bought a massive house—and hates being alone.
As roommates, Casey refuses to be defeated by Landon’s one-word answers. As friends, Landon comes to notice a few things about Casey, like his wide, easy smile and sparkling green-blue eyes. Spending the holidays together only intensifies their bromance-turned-romance. But as the new year approaches, the countdown to the end of Landon’s time in Calgary is on.
Alright, I know I already said that The Bone Collector was the book that I am most excited about this month, but I am just as excited for Time to Shine by Rachel Reid.
Her book Heated Rivalry is easily one of my favorite books ever, so the fact that she is dropping a new hockey M/M romance is downright thrilling.
Book Three in the brand-new Safe Harbor series from acclaimed author Annabeth Albert. Safe Harbor, Oregon welcomes readers to a historic town with a tight friend group, memorable secondary characters, quirky businesses, and long-held secrets. Each book stands alone with a fresh couple, but the background mystery of the town’s secrets ties the series together. Find Me Worthy is book three and features Worth’s return to Safe Harbor at last.
I have to include Find Me Worthy because I am such a big Annabeth Albert fan. Her series, Out of Uniform, was the first full M/M series that I ever read, so I hold Albert’s work in a special place in my heart.
To jump into this book, I will definitely need to check out the whole Safe Harbor series, but that won’t be a tough ask. The first book in the series, Bring Me Home, is a highly-rated age-gap, grumpy/sunshine miliary book. So, I’ll just go get started reading that right now to hold me over until September is here.
Come on, baby, light my fire…
Firefighter Hawke Colton loves his job and hanging with his firefighter brothers. Work is great, but Hawke wants more. He yearns for a life with a husband, kids, a house, even a dog. What he craves is a real family, something he never got to experience growing up.
Fire Investigator Tristan Cole lost his parents to an arsonist twenty-one years ago. That tragedy changed his life forever. He’s built his career on putting arsonists away, and he is still searching for the person responsible for his parents’ death.
When a family is killed in a suspicious fire, Tristan knows the signature of the offender all too well. To prove it’s the same arsonist, he asks Hawke for help combing through the old files. He is determined to get justice by uncovering what lurks beneath the ashes.
When the arsonist sets his sights on Tristan, can Hawke find a way to keep his new love safe?
Eve Riley must know my secret. I love a good firefighter book! Books with fire fighters are always exciting and fun and include unstable characters that have a hero complex. Plus, fire puns are always hilarious to me. I truly hope to find all of the above in Hawke.
I read M/M romance books exclusively, and I help other readers find their next great M/M romance read.
