Silas
I’m tired of feeling trapped in my life.
It’s just a never-ending cycle of trying to survive the day.
Luckily, I have Blaine to keep me entertained.
We’re enemies but despite him being everything I hate; I’m addicted to him and the things we do in the dark. Somehow, he’s crept his way under my skin, and I’m obsessed with the way he’s making me feel.
I don’t want to admit I’m falling for him—the golden boy—but he’s my perfect match in every way.
He gives me something I never thought I’d have and, even though we’re impossible, I won’t let anyone stand in the way of us.
Blaine
My life is suffocating me.
Perfect son, star athlete, ideal student. I’m overwhelmed—unraveling at the seams.
Until Silas flips my world on its axis.
My dirty little secret.
He’s my perfect escape from reality. I can let loose and feel good for a change. He makes me feel alive for the first time.
But he’ll always be someone I despise. He’s arrogant, the epitome of a bad boy and yet the longer we do this, the harder it’s becoming to ignore my growing feelings. He’s not what I expected, but he’s exactly what I need.
And now that I’ve had him, I refuse to let him go.
Okay, full disclosure, I just finished reading this book. And it’s amazing!
I am not super familiar with either T. Ashleigh or Addison Beck, but that will absolutely change after reading Hateful Love.
Be on the lookout for a review on this one. I can’t wait to tell you how much I love Silas and Blaine together.
This book is the start of a whole Kings of Aces series. Next up we get Whaley and Bunky’s story, and I cannot wait!
Release Date: February 2
Once upon a time SIX YEARS AGO, the Heart2Heart app made its first batch of incredibly unlikely (but oh-so-perfect) love matches. So a fresh, new group of your favorite authors wondered… what happens when the world’s most perceptive dating software gets an upgrade, just in time for Valentine’s Day?
Will the porcelain teacup collector, the shy rugby player, and the bank robber with a heart of gold find their perfect matches? Only fate (and C.U.P.I.D) know.
As always, all proceeds from this anthology will benefit LGBTQ+ charities to ensure that love in all its incarnations will be celebrated and protected every single day of the year!
This is so exciting! We get 12 short stories from authors we know and love. It feels so fitting for Valentine’s Day.
Check back in with me on what to read and what to skip from this anthology!
Once upon a time, a bunch of authors wondered… what would happen if Heart2Heart, the mystical matchmaking app adored across the supernatural world, brought in an absolute legend to help them find true love?
This Valentine’s Day, the sunshiny necromancer, the lonely vampire, and the nonbinary dragon will put their trust in H2H and a certain cheeky cherub of romance. Will Cupid’s arrows strike true?
As always, all proceeds from this anthology will benefit LGBTQ+ charities to ensure that love in all its incarnations will be celebrated and protected every single day of the year!
And the paranormal version! With this anthology we get ten paranormal short stories from some amazing authors.
I am probably a little more excited about the paranormal version just because of the author list, but they are both solid!
When Liam Belanger gets a professional tryout with the Miami Caimans, he’s hoping to land a roster spot that’ll keep him from bussing tables. If he can make the team and score a tryout in bed with Russ Lyons, the veteran defenseman who’s appointed himself Liam’s mentor, that would be the icing on the sweet hockey cake.
Living life by a strict set of rules has worked out well for Russ. He has a great career, great friends, and a great family, even if they do keep setting him up with hometown honey traps. But he can’t stop time, and now, despite all his planning, he’s looking at his last year with the Caimans before the uncertainty of free agency. Maybe that’s why he finds sunny, free-spirited Liam so attractive.
He’s still not going to sleep with his rookie.
Probably.
Liam starts the season in the minors, but it’s not long before he gets a shot at the Big Show. His year is shaping up to be a dream come true—even before Russ picks up on Liam’s passes and proves defensemen can score too.
Hockey!
In Crushed Ice we get a rookie and the vet romance. The age-gap, grumpy/sunshine trope is one of my absolute favorites, so I can’t wait to see it play out here.
Especially with the hockey aspect, this book’s blurb really reminds me of Taylor Fitzpatrick’s Thrown Off the Ice.
I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that this is the less tragic version.
TROY
Sometimes I want to punch that smirk off Atlas McCallister’s pretty face.
He’s cocky. A troublemaker. A pain.
And, unfortunately, my stepbrother.
We’ve been fire and kerosene since our parents got together, and to keep from exploding into fistfights, we’ve used challenges, dares, and bets to battle out our differences.
Our past bets have been a little inappropriate—scandalous, even—but Atlas’s latest bet has gone too far.
Do I really believe if he loses, my straight stepbrother is gonna mess around with a guy? And not just any guy: me, his rival and nemesis?
Not a chance.
But if he’s so confident he’s gonna win…well, my big stepbro must not know me as well as he thinks…
ATLAS
I love getting under Troy’s skin.
Mr. Former Prom King. Mr. Heartthrob. Mr. Infuriatingly Perfect. Messing with him is too easy. Too fun. Maybe that’s why I’m a little obsessed with him.
Our latest bet is the perfect way for me to test the bisexual waters, and once I dive headfirst into the deep end, I don’t want to stop.
With Troy. My stepbro.
It was supposed to be just a little fun, yet with each touch, I like him more than I should. It wasn’t supposed to go this far. Now I want Troy to be all mine.
But what we’re doing has bigger consequences than our little step bet, and when the stakes are this high, is it worth gambling our hearts when we know this is a game we both could lose?
Stepbrother, enemies-to-lovers books are apparently my new thing.
What I like about this book is that one of the brothers is already interested and pretty sure he is bi while the other brother is completely oblivious.
I have a feeling that this book is going to be a lot of fun.
Braxton—the emo kid, the loner, the cynical wallflower with an attitude. It’s no secret that I’ve never quite fit in.
But it’s glaringly obvious now that I’ve moved to this Podunk small town that seems to run entirely on sugar, friendliness, and cheer. (And cows, an ungodly number of cows.)
I hate it—this place where everyone knows everyone, and I’m still the outsider.
But who wants to fit in anyways? I’ve never really tried, never even thought I wanted to… until I met him.
Jimbob is living his best life out here, farming the fields of Kansas, well and truly happy.
And I just don’t get it. His charming smiles, playful winks, and easy-going attitude infuriate me, but I can’t look away. He’s like a bright, sunny day sweeping through my prickly hailstorm.
And I’m so utterly confused, because I’ve never felt this way before. There’s just something about Jimbob that makes me want to try.
Makes me want to belong.
Makes me want to put down roots in the glow of his sunshine.
The writing team of Cora Rose and Nicole Dykes is a dream come true.
With these two it is a sure thing that Sunshine for Sale is going to be dramatic, over-the-top, and compelling.
I love a good grumpy/sunshine, small-town romance, and I know that these two will knock it out of the park.
Also, one of the guy’s names is Jimbob. Like, I have to read this book.
Keats McCulloch opened his florist shop in Sydney two years ago and he’s living his dream. Even though running his own business leaves little room for a personal life, he is very single, sometimes lonely, but otherwise happy.
Linden Acres has sworn off men for all eternity. Armed with his cheating boyfriend’s credit card and a floriography list, he decides to buy him the perfect farewell gift. The biggest, prettiest bouquet of ‘murder flowers’ his money can buy.
Keats convinces Linden to avoid possible jail time and go with a more subdued, somewhat passive aggressive bouquet of black roses and basil leaves. After all, nothing else says you’re dead to me and I hate you with such elegance.
Keats finds Linden hilarious and charming, and Linden thinks Keats is kind of wonderful . . . It’s too bad he’s sworn off men forever. Yet their paths cross again and again, as if fate was planting seeds in the hope that one will bloom.
N.R. Walker?
Okay! I’m in!
I love the meet cute and how sweet and simple Bloom seems.
I see this as a light and easy read that I will throw into the mix this month if I read any super heavy books and need something to help me regroup.
Note to self: just because he’s hot and funny doesn’t change the fact he’s annoying AF.
Hooking up with my irritating as hell neighbour wasn’t on my agenda for the week, even if he is ridiculously gorgeous with a smile that lights up my life. His music is too loud, he’s too nosy… but I can’t stop myself from wanting more than a taste.
It was only supposed to be a one time thing, but now Rhys seems determined to charm his way into my world. And when he gets his nose broken at a rock concert, I’m the one who comes to his rescue.
But there’s no time in my life for a relationship. Juggling drag, a paramedic career, and helping with my sister’s kids has already pushed me close to burnout, and I’m walking a fine line between survival and exhaustion.
I’ve always been the one helping everyone else and I can’t remember the last time I put myself first.
Maybe it’s time to cause a scene and go after the thing I really want: a chance with the sparkling man next door who has terrible taste in music.
I have a thing for paramedic books. I tend to really love the people who would choose that as a career. I also really enjoy the next-door neighbor trope.
I think this is going to be a funny, sweet read.
Reckless, cruel, and fragile, Kazia Dire is a prisoner in plain sight.
Lucien Vaire has no idea what he’s getting into.
We haven’t been give much blurb wise, but it doesn’t matter because Tavia Lark has absolutely crushed the rest of the Perilous Courts series. I will take whatever she gives me at this point.
I am so excited to finally get a peak at who Kazia Dire really is. He has been this wild enigma throughout the series, and seeing who he really is, is going to be so fun. I think this will be a super solid conclusion to the series.
There’s something about our new landlord, Alec.
Something that I can’t quite place.
He seems familiar, but not. Like maybe I’ve seen him before.
And sure, he’s attractive, strictly objectively speaking. I’m not into dudes.
But he has this intense, piercing stare that I can’t look away from.
Eyes that make me feel like they can see right through me.
Like he knows all my secrets.
And I wish he would share them with me because sometimes I feel like I don’t even really know myself.
But I do know one thing.
I take my responsibilities to my family and friends very seriously.
And when your best friend is gay, you learn to be the best straight wingman at the gay bar you can be.
And if you happen to hook up with a guy once in a while… well, it doesn’t really mean anything.
It’s just a good way to relax and unwind.
But when it’s Alec who turns up, ready and willing to help me “relax”, I know it’s a bad idea but I just can’t resist.
I tell myself just this once. It won’t ever happen again.
Well, maybe just one more time…
Hey! It’s Cora Rose again!
Between the contemporary anthology short story, Sunshine for Sale with Nicole Dykes, and this book, Cora Rose really had her hands full this month. And I am just eating it up.
I think One More Time will be the perfect way to end my February 2024 reading.
Let me know below what books you are excited to read this month!
I read M/M romance books exclusively, and I help other readers find their next great M/M romance read.
